You're Hot! Hydration for Winter Adventures

Writer: Dawn LundinDawn Lundin

Don't let the chilly temps make you a permanent trainer princess this winter. Take back winter by using these three key elements to hydrate during a winter adventure. The three key elements to winter hydration are pre-load, start warm, and keep warm!

Pre-load: Start hydrating before your adventure even gets started. This means starting with 1-2 servings of your favorite electrolyte product. This is especially important if your hydration hasn't been ideal leading up to your adventure.

Start warm: Start with warm or hot beverages. The beverages you bring with can vary depending on what you're looking to get out of them.

Carbs + Hydration: Skratch Hydration Apple Cider is an excellent and tasty way to meet your fluid, electrolyte, and carbohydrate needs. It's an excellent way to warm up after your adventure is complete.

Carbs + Hydration + Caffeine: For the trifecta of adventuring needs, add 1 scoop of Skratch Hydration Lemon-Lime & 1 bag of TAZO Zen tea to 10 ounces of water. Let steep and enjoy!

Hydration + Caffeine: If you're looking for some caffeine, look no further than Velodrome Portable Single Serve Coffee. Because life is too short to adventure with crappy coffee, ew.

Hydration + Carbs + Protein: Nothing screams recovery like a Skratch Recovery Hot Chocolate. Add hot water or milk of choice and load up with marshmallows, whip cream, or whatever your heart desires. This is perfect post-adventure beverage or on the trails if you're adventure through meal time.

Keep warm: Store your beverages in insulated bottles or a thermos. Keep bottles and other hydration close to your body, if possible or close to a heat source like hand/body warmers.
